In the Spotlight: Wootton Park
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Wootton Park – a truly unique wedding venue in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside.
Situated on the outskirts of the Saxon village of Wootton Wawen, Wootton Park is a haven of tranquillity with unspoilt countryside views on all sides. And yet it’s just 5 miles from the M40/M42 motorway networks, so perfect for travelling wedding guests.
Driving through the gates of Wootton Park, it was clear right away that this was a place of peace and luxury. The further you advance down the country path the more immersed you become in the wonderful scenery that is the 360-acre valley surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and woodland. Wootton Park has a real family feel to it and it’s clear that the McCall family who own it, plus the two dedicated wedding coordinators Becca and Katie, show such love and care to the venue. It really is pristine, exuding quality from all corners.
For weekend weddings, Wootton Park offers exclusive use of the entire site from 9am on the big day, and for Monday-Friday weddings you have the option of arriving the night before, allowing you to wake up at the venue on your wedding day. There is even a nail salon on the Wootton Park site which is perfect for brides and bridesmaids getting ready in the morning!
2016 welcomed Wootton Park’s newly constructed outdoor ceremony area, and it really is unique, with ceremonies taking place on a moored boat in the picturesque lake! Available for outdoor weddings from March to October, the area overlooks the beautifully landscaped grounds and allows you to marry in the countryside air with breathtaking photo opportunities for your first kiss.
The canopy that stands over the boat is licensed for civil weddings so you can complete the legal marriage during your ceremony, and the venue also welcomes celebrant-led ceremonies for those who prefer this option.
Brides enter the ceremony area through the wooden archway which can be decorated with flowers and topiary, and then enjoy a lovely long aisle walk to make their entrance.
The lakeside area can accommodate up to 110, and as you make your vows surrounded by the gorgeous waters and countryside views, your guests look on from the pristine patio area.
After your ceremony the outdoor fun can continue with welcome drinks on the patio, garden games, and full use of the 360-acre site for your stunning wedding photographs. The venue even houses a range of animals including horses, alpacas, goats, chickens and doves (sometimes used for dove releases in ceremonies!), which really adds to the unique and rural feel of the place.
Some couples really make the most of the outside space by hiring food and drink vans and acoustic musicians to set up outdoors, providing a relaxed and summery vibe for their guests. The venue even provides a fire pit for you to cosy up around and toast marshmallows on as the sun goes down in the evening.
When it comes to inside space you are also spoilt for choice. Wootton Park offers a beautiful licensed indoor ceremony room, which can also be used for your evening entertainment, complete with a spacious dancefloor and with plenty of room for your DJ or band to set up. This room can accommodate 110 for a ceremony and 150 for an evening reception.
The separate wedding breakfast room can also accommodate up to 150 guests, so it’s perfect for that big sit-down meal, speeches and cake cutting. Such a choice of both indoor and outdoor spaces means that your wedding can flow really nicely as the day goes on.
Another great feature of the venue is the luxury 16th century Farmhouse and Bakehouse accommodation. These offer eight en-suite guest rooms in total, all included in your package, and welcome the bridal party for the all-important getting ready process and for the night of wedding (plus the night before in the case of midweek weddings).
Every room has been decorated with such care and attention, with modern interiors mixed with lots of gorgeous original features. One of the rooms, formerly affectionately known as the Planetarium, has an unusual and rare half-barrel shaped ceiling. This room is now the ‘Venice’ bridal room. It is thought that this was designed as a chapel and was added to the original building about 300 years ago.
What’s more, there is even the option of camping and glamping accommodation for you and your guests! Love the great outdoors but also want the luxury of a warm comfortable bed and a hot shower? Then the venue’s glamping pods could be for you. There are eight pods in total, four of which have their own private hot tub, and two of which are situated up in the treetops!
The morning after the wedding, family and friends who have stayed the night can gather around the large dining table in the Farmhouse to share a complimentary breakfast together and reflect on their wonderful day.
Completely flexible bespoke packages allow you to pick and choose everything you want for your dream wedding, and the team at Wootton Park can also help to make your wedding day truly unique with outdoor fayre rides, ice cream carts and a helicopter entrance!
