Kirsty & Jon’s Glasto-themed wedding

Over the years, festival lovers Kirsty and Jon had attended the Glastonbury Festival a whopping 23 times between them, so there could be only one theme for their wedding day! Their Glasto theme ran through the invitations, stationery, the epic cake and flowers. There was only one touch missing (and for that I think everyone was grateful)… the mud!
Kirsty and Jon chose the beautifully secluded Hidden Valley as their wedding venue – a great little spot surrounded by trees in Godalming, Surrey. As they were both very busy with their jobs, they asked wedding and events organiser Fiesta Fields to put together a bespoke package for their special day, which included tipis, catering, on-the-day coordination and all the necessary extras such as loos and generators.
In the days leading up to the wedding, Fiesta Fields and key suppliers took care of setting up Hidden Valley, and family and friends helped to dress the tipis and set up some of the finishing touches that made the day so unique and personal. Meanwhile Kirsty and Jon held their legal marriage ceremony, followed by lunch with family and a Kings of Leon gig!
When the big day arrived, the Glasto theme began as family children stood at the front of the ceremony area to hand out Kirsty and Jon’s personalised festival wristbands! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect as guests waited on the covered haybales, taking in the beautiful views.
Kirsty arrived looking so beautiful in her blue ombre dress from Lucy Can’t Dance, and made her way down the ceremony aisle on the arm of her proud dad. Jon, who himself looked very dapper in his trousers and waistcoat from Henry Herbert Tailors, watched on as his beautiful bride approached, and then their informal yet beautiful ceremony began.
A highlight of the ceremony was the little game guests were asked to play, answering questions with a pink heart for Kirsty or a blue one for Jon! With a celebrant-led ceremony like this you really can make everything your own.
After the ceremony, guests followed Kirsty and Jon down into the valley and Tipsy Goose got busy providing guests with their welcome drinks – a choice of Negroni or Margarita cocktails or some of the local ales Kirsty and Jon had sourced from Langham’s Brewery. Tasty canapés were also served to the mingling guests, which included corn fritters, sausage roll slices, smoked cheddar mousse and quail scotch eggs. Kirsty and Jon had also provided outdoor games for their guests to enjoy throughout the day – the giant Kerplunk was particularly impressive!
After an hour or so of drinks and canapés guests were ushered in to serve themselves to deluxe pie and mash in true festival style, and then take their places in the tipis provided by Stunning Tents. Kirsty and Jon had chosen a selection of pies including chicken and smoked ham with tarragon; venison, chilli and beer; and sweet potato, cumin and smoked mozzarella. Dessert was a delicious chocolate brownie with ice cream – perfect for a summer’s day!
For the tables, Kirsty and Jon were going rustic and leaving the solid wood tables naked. Jon’s Mum had created super cute wellie boot flower displays as centrepieces, and the table names, table plan and name cards all fitted in with the couple’s Glasto theme.
Once tables were cleared, Tipsy Goose delivered bottles of fizz to the tables and it was speech time, followed by the cutting of the cake. The band then kicked off with their 1960s set and worked their way through the years from there. Later in the evening the cosy fire pit was lit and platters of cheesy chips, bacon sandwiches and wedding cake were laid out for guests to enjoy as the sun went down.
