Gently moulded by nature, Sylvan Ferns is an idyllic leafy hideaway that will take you wherever your imagination leads. Beneath the whispering trees you will find natural pathways leading to ferny glades that immerse you in fairy tale surroundings, making the perfect backdrop for your ceremony and celebration.

Set conveniently close enough to local amenities, our woodland setting offers the perfect blend of privacy and accessibility, ensuring a peaceful retreat without compromising on convenience. We offer weekend hire and exclusive use for wedding celebrations and events, providing the perfect blank canvas to let your ideas blossom.

We can accommodate small groups of up to 70 people and parking for up to 30 cars, perfect for couples and families who wish to hold a more intimate and personal celebration. Sylvan Ferns is the perfect dry hire venue for you, your close family and friends to create unforgettable memories for all kinds of special occasions.

What does “Dry hire” mean?

You’ve probably heard the term “Dry hire” several times while scrolling socials or searching venues on line, but what does it actually mean?
Well it varies from venue to venue, but for Sylvan Ferns it means that the woodland is available to hire as it is.
As a woodland venue we are totally natural, we have no utilities at all…no electricity, no gas, no water no buildings and no toilets!
We aim to keep the woodland as unspoilt and as natural as we can, yes we have created pathways by enhancing what was naturally there and we have created some clearings within the 5 acres by removing dead and diseased trees which could have been a danger to us or a threat to neighbouring trees, but the rest is just as nature intended.
So what can you do with a “Dry hire” venue that is without the usual utilities we all take for granted?
Anything…you can do anything!
Just because we don’t have those things on site doesn’t mean you have to go without… there are ways.
There is a huge variety of mobile suppliers who have had experience in outdoor events and are adequately equipped to run their business and your event just as they would at any other venue.
Marquees are a must for outdoor events providing not just shelter but eating areas, dance floors, ceremony space and so much more, all tailored to your needs and requirements.
Mobile bars will provide their own power and water via generator and water containers as will food trucks and caterers.
Musicians will also provide their own power via batteries or generators or better still have acoustic performers.
Toilets and wash rooms can be hired for the duration of your event and can range from basic to luxury and again they will provide everything they need to run the unit.
Lighting in the woodland can be created by lots of different options such as flood lights but a popular one is strings of battery operated lights, a wonderful backdrop for evening photographs.

Dry hire options can vary but a widely popular choice is a 3 day duration hire, this gives you the best option to utilise time for setting up and creating the best layout of your event stress free!
Day one, supplier set up, decorate in your own colours theme and style.
Day two, the event, wedding, party etc.
Day three, pack up and vacate.
