At Rooted Ceremonies, East Midlands celebrant Joy Justice creates nature-inspired weddings and lifecycle ceremonies that weave connections between ourselves, each other and the earth.
Hi, I’m Joy from Rooted Ceremonies, and I’m a celebrant based in Nottinghamshire. I love to create meaningful and heartfelt ceremonies for those big moments in life where we need to be seen, held, and celebrated. I am appreciated for my radiant warmth and gentle, calm presence.
Regardless of the size of your wedding, vow renewal or handfasting ceremony, this is my commitment: I will listen deeply, get to know you properly, and take your cues throughout. I will do my best to help you feel at ease and to welcome and include any audience members that you have. My aim is that by the end, everyone agrees that the ceremony was perfectly YOU!
Through the process of getting to know you, I will support you to tune into the reasons for your ceremony in the first place: what does it mean to you? What is important to you about the way you go about it, and what would you like to do away with? I can support you to write your own vows, and I’ll work with you to design and choreograph any rituals within your ceremony, either ones we invent together or something with a long standing tradition. I also offer a few special touches such as the chance to make your own candles, handtying cords, confetti or other items for your ceremony with me, as a way of helping you to prepare emotionally for the ceremony.
You may already have a dream place where you’d like to host your ceremony, and I’m happy to work wherever is meaningful or practical for you. If you’re stuck for ideas I keep a growing list of non-traditional venues and spots in the East Midlands and Yorkshire which are ideally suited to the occasional celebration. I have co-organised a few DIY celebrations myself and am happy to share any tips and tricks that are useful.
I have been a celebrant since 2023 and feel absolutely called to this work! When I’m not hosting ceremonies, you might find me training people in conflict resolution skills, teaching permaculture and practical homesteading skills, picking berries and flowers, singing, dancing or reading wizard books with my child.
I don’t even know where to start! Our wedding long-weekend was absolutely magic, and Joy held us and supported us every step of the way. She is so full of amazing talents and ideas, and helped to make a ceremony totally fitting to us, the location, and the people we were celebrating with. It was as if everything wove together perfectly through her interventions, and our intentions for the weekend could shine out. She also has such attention to sustainability in a really heartfelt and genuine way, meaning that the whole weekend was rooted in a sense of really authentic magic. Gorgeous confetti lovingly grown in her own garden is just the icing on the cake! Thank you for everything Joy… Can’t recommend enough!
