Barbara Gubbins, CBE is a celebrant who offers weddings, renewal of vows; naming ceremonies and celebration of life ceremonies across North East England.
Born in the North East, Barbara lives in North Tyneside and spent most of her career in marketing before moving into the voluntary sector 20 years ago. In a voluntary capacity, she was a magistrate for 16 years and has held a number of roles as a trustee, school governor and mentor of young people at risk. In June 2017, she was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her contribution to voluntary services.
Barbara was first motivated to become a celebrant when she attended her youngest son’s wedding in New Zealand where the celebrant brought such warmth, peace and joy to the day and brought two families together.
Barbara loves her career as a celebrant and as the storyteller of people’s love stories and new life. She also understands that losing a loved one is the most devastating event in someone’s life, and knows the importance of creating a ceremony that can be related to friends, family and community members who want to say their farewells.
